“In him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will” (Ephesians 1:11).
“Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according his purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began” (2 Timothy 1:9).
WHAT IS DESTINY?
We all have a destiny; or, put differently, God has a destiny for us. That is, God created us for a purpose. Destiny is the plan of God for you fashioned before you were born. Destiny has to do with God’s purpose for us and not our own purpose. Our part is to accept God’s plan for our lives and to obey him.
The destiny of God for us is that we should shine like the star. Esther was an orphan, but did not know that like her name suggests, God wanted her to be a star. When she let go her personal plans and submitted to the service of God, she fulfilled her destiny. To shine like the star we must engage in soul winning (Daniel 12:3).
THE DESTINY OF GOD FOR EVERYONE OF US IS THAT WE DO HIS WILL. ONE OF HIS WILL FOR US NOW IS THAT WE PARTICIPATE IN THE ENDTIME HARVEST.
Every one seeking to fulfill destiny must engage in what is the heart beat of God. Every wise son of destiny seeks to please the father, to do the will of the father.
The endtime harvest is God’s priority programme for everyone one. Every true son of God must rise up and participate in the endtime harvest. The writer of the book of proverb says, “He who gathers in summer is a wise son; he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame” (Proverbs 10:5).
The King would not return until the gospel is preached to all the nations. In Matthew 24:14 we read, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Unless we complete the task of reaching the nation’s with the gospel the end would not come. Every child of destiny has a stake in participating in the endtime harvest and working to bring back the King of kings.
Revelation 5:1-9 gives a picture of the endtime. In verse 9, we see that Jesus would ultimately harvest the souls he died for on the cross. “And they sang a new song, saying: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for you were slain, and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”
OUR GOAL AND TARGET
As a Church, we have made a deliberate choice to make the harvest a priority. We have set goals and targets for ourselves. Each member is to win one soul at least every year. How we do this? Simply by following the footsteps of the sower and labourer described in Psalm 126:5,6. The sower in Psalm 126:5,6 displayed passion, vision, dedication, sacrifice, commitment and faith as he sowed seeds. These are the qualities you need to pursue and fulfill destiny.
PETER: A MODEL
Peter was a man who fulfilled his destiny. For many years, he was a fisher man until he met Christ. Christ told him, “follow me and I will make you fisher of men.” Peter did not hesitate to follow Christ. His obedience to follow Christ transformed his life to a life of destiny. God is calling every one of us to follow him. Those who follow him will be made to be part of the harvest force. Those who obey to follow Christ will have the joy of fulfilling their destiny.
In conclusion, there is a price for fulfilling ones destiny. Unless we are willing to make sacrifice we cannot fulfill our destiny. Secondly, because destiny is God’s plan for our lives we must devout time to seek God for grace and strength to fulfill our destiny.
