The more we thank God, the more we receive from him
The Church was truly blessed this Sunday by the He’s Alive Chapel (HAC) Children Church who ministered to the congregation in various interesting and interactive ways… He’s Alive Chapel is truly blessed with the next generation of leaders and ministers.
Message on ‘Thanksgiving’ by Victor Awa
We ought to cultivate an attitude of thanksgiving especially in our relationship with God. The more we thank God, the more we receive from him. In the story of the 10 lepers healed by Jesus only one came back to offer his thanks to Jesus and it was that one man that was made whole… We have a lot of reasons to offer thanksgiving to God because he has done a lot for us, the fact that he has given us a hope for the future amidst other things- Parents should especially thank God because God had blessed them with beautiful and handsome children and because God has given the means to satisfy the needs of the children God has given them.
The meaning of THANKSGIVING

Message by Pastor Yide (Instruct Your Children, Teach Your Children, Prepare Your Children)
Pastor Yide invited all individuals in their 20’s and 30’s who had passed through He’s Alive Bible Study Class as children. They represent the impact of the Children’s church years down the line. She thanked the Church profusely for the gifts, words, prayers, support and encouragement during Pastor Austen Ukachi’s Birthday Celebration!
4 things she picked during the Children’s Ministration
- Has the Lord Said and will he not do? (Numbers 23:19)
- God knows the way of the righteous but the way of the Sinner will perish (Psalm 1:6)
- Blessed are the undefiled (Psalm 1:1)
- How can a young man keep his way pure it is by taking heed to the word of God (Psalm 119:9)
1 Chronicles 22:1-5. David made elaborate preparation for the building of the house of the Lord. At this time, Solomon was already King and David knew that he was close to his death. Although David had always wanted to build the house of the Lord, God told him that His son Solomon was the man to build the house for him. He however still went ahead to make preparations to help Solomon, The key message here is that David made preparations to help Solomon in the task ahead of him. The same should apply to all parents; Parents should make preparation to ensure that their children are prepared for the task ahead of them, she advised parents to buy books, invest in their children’s education, to spend on their future. In a speech by Michelle Obama she said because she had been prepared, when the challenge came for her to be the First Lady, she was able to meet up with the challenge because she was prepared, she was ready. She admonished parents to ensure that they do not use money as an excuse to ignore investment in the lives of their children.
It is equally important to teach the children ourselves and move away from the culture of the TV, peers and social influences teaching our children. It is the responsibility of parents to teach important values and morals to the children. She emphasized that men should take up their responsibility as the leaders of the home to teach their children. We cannot overemphasize the importance of teaching our children the way of the lord and the importance of bringing children with intentionality. Time flies she said, seize every opportunity to groom your children now as there will come a time when it would be difficult to teach as they would be grown men and women who make their own decisions. Even when it seems that what you are teaching is falling on deaf ears, continue, be steadfast, hang on and pray. Parents should look for every opportunity to teach their children.
The first house of God is our hearts and our lives! Beyond the physical house or building of the Lord, the first temple of God is our hearts and our lives. It is important to teach the same to our children. Teach your children that their body is the temple of the God more so, teach them that they are royalty and royalty have a standard of how to behave, how to act and how to dress.
In 1 Chronicles 22, David called for Solomon his Son- Call for your children as parents, call them to yourself and teach them. God always provides for teachable moments, watch out for those moments and utilize them. When David called for Solomon, he instructed and charged him 1 Chronicles 22:6. It is important to have a family day or night to do something special with the children. During such days, you can play games, go out to eat, interact, talk about something from the bible, teach your children and instruct. Be the first to talk to your children; do not tell them things when it is too late. In 1 Chronicles 22:17 David equally solicited the help of other people around to help his son. It is important that we seek the help of other people to help our children; we equally have a responsibility to other children and the youth around to teach and correct.
In closing, Pastor Yide asked parents to see their children as young, inexperienced and needing help 1 Chronicles 22:5 Beyond this, she told parents of the importance of knowing what God has said about their children. Parents ought to know what the Lord has said about their Children the general ones in the bible and the specific ones that God gives to parents (Rhema). If you don’t know specific things God has said about your children, take time and ask the Lord. He alone call tell you what plans he has for the life of your child.
