Speaker: Brother Chinedu
Key Passages: Proverbs 11:30, John 3:16, Revelations 11:15, Revelations 2-3
God is passionate about man- catch that and no one will force you to evangelize!
The preacher began by emphasizing the profound wisdom in winning souls. Many believers do not appreciate how God looks at man- the crowning glory of his creation. After the work of creation, God created man to tend, beautify and give the garden form. Man was the splendour of the work of creation and the one piece of creation that made God’s work complete. Thus, it is no surprise that God places high value on every man. The preacher went on to describe the unfortunate state of the world today where men value material things more than people. This ought not to be so. He admonished the church to shy away from this ungodly act. Rather, Christians should make the salvation of man the centre of everything that needs to be done. By so doing, a Christian creates an avenue to change man, which often has ripple effects on the family, people and eventually nations.
He highlighted the desire of God to see the kingdoms of the world converted to the Kingdom of God. Chapters 2 and 3 of the book of Revelations show that this is possible even in the worst of places, families or lives. God is always interested in the souls of men and needs people to work on his behalf.
The Importance of Soul Winning
Winning souls is a beautiful thing to experience. By soul winning, a Christian connects another soul to God and has made himself or herself a tool for the work of transformation to begin in that life. He encouraged the church to win souls using the power of love, even to enemies or people we deem or reason lost to the kingdom of hell. More so, a soul won is unlikely to forget the person who connected him/her to God.
4 Essentials of Soul Winning
1. Focus
Focus is a key to winning souls. The soul winner must think beyond human reasoning, and gain God’s perspective to bring a soul to Christ. Also, the preacher asked the church to crave (Gen 15: 2) for spiritual children just as Abraham did.
2. Love
It takes love to seek out souls. The love of God that is within all Christians should flow onto others.
3. Be a living Example
Simply put, do what you preach.
4. Sharing the word
Christians need to share the message. This helps a growing Christian deepen his or her knowledge, and serves as a key tool for winning souls.
The preacher concluded by relating the account of the Samaritan woman in John 4: she went about sharing the news of Jesus after her encounter with him. He told the church that winning souls takes effort and commitment. By sharing the testimony of your personal encounter with God, simply loving and praying, a soul can be won over for the Kingdom of God.
The heartbeat of God is Man.
Catch God’s heartbeat.
Win in a soul today!
