Life in God’s Garden
The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Principles of gardening as it applies to the family.
Gardening is an art of growing and cultivating plants as a part of horticulture. God took gardening seriously when he planted the garden of Eden.
Song of Songs 4:12-15
A garden enclosed
Is my sister, my spouse,
A spring shut up,
A fountain sealed.
Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates
With pleasant fruits,
Fragrant henna with spikenard,
Spikenard and saffron,
Calamus and cinnamon,
With all trees of frankincense,
Myrrh and aloes,
With all the chief spices—
A fountain of gardens,
A well of living waters,
And streams from Lebanon.
Song of Songs 4:16
The Shulamite
Awake, O north wind,
And come, O south!
Blow upon my garden,
That its spices may flow out.
Let my beloved come to his garden
And eat its pleasant fruits.
Song of Songs 5:1
The Beloved
I have come to my garden, my sister, my spouse;
I have gathered my myrrh with my spice;
I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey;
I have drunk my wine with my milk.
Eat, O friends!
Drink, yes, drink deeply,
O beloved ones!

Basic Components of Gardening
Soil
Water
Light
Output from the garden depends on the quality of the soil.
Also the type of seed determines the kind of soil.
Genesis 2:15
God put man in the garden to tend and keep it.
Gardening requires labour, labour determines the output
HOW DO WE TEND AND KEEP YOUR GARDEN.
1.Soil Test: to determine if you should adjust the nutrients in the soil.
The soil determines the yield for the gardenr.
You may need to input nutrients that are lacking.
The soil also determines timing of watering.
Some soil treatments will bring odour.
2. Prevent Pests and Diseases
These will destroy your harvest.
There are various pests e.g dangerous/ bad friends.
The nourishments applied to the soil will attract pests that can destroy.
3. Watering.
Make room for drainage so that water will not destroy the plants.
Water is good but the garden can be waterlogged.
4: Sunlight
Different plants need different levels of sunlight.
Find out what your family needs. It may be different from the needs of other families.
5: Remove Weeds
Timing of weeding is important in order not to destroy or uproot the plants.
Occupy your soil so that weeds will not take advantage of it. Weeds grow faster than plants. They compete for the nutrients.
Relaxation time should be occupied with productive things.
6. Allow Time for the Plant to Grow
Sometimes it may take a while to receive your Yield. Don’t discard but persevere to get results. Yield may take time. For example, introduction of family devotions may take time to catch on. Don’t give up.
The fact that a plant died doesn’t mean we shouldn’t plant it again.
