Sunday 8 March 2015

Pastor Azuka OgoSpeaker: Evangelist Azuka Ogo

Our theme for March 2015 (Evangelism Month) can be found in Matthew 9:37-38 and Luke 10:1-11.

INTRODUCTION

Our Lord Jesus Christ looked at the crowds following Him and referred to them as a field ripe for harvest; meaning that many people are ready to give their lives to Christ if someone will show them how. He has asked us to pray to The Lord of the harvest to send out workers or labourers or harvesters into his harvest field.

SENDING OUT WORKERS

Luke 10:1-9,

  • Jesus appointed and sent out 72 disciples two by two.
  • He told them there’s a large harvest and the workers are few. He instructed them to ask The Lord of the harvest for additional workers
  • GO
  • Declare peace to the houses
  • Heal the sick
  • Declare that the kingdom of God is near you

 RETURN OF WORKERS

Luke 10:17-20.

In verse 20, Jesus says “However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven”

WHAT IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD LIKE

In Luke 17:21, we see that the Kingdom of God is within us.

Proverbs 11:30 says “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise”

Let us consider the Parable of Talents: Matthew 25:14-23

In Matthew 25:24-30, the servant who hid the talent entrusted or loaned to him had a wrong perception of the Master and was afraid of Him. His lack of love for his master was obvious and he did not share his passion, so he returned the unused talent. The Master described him as a wicked and lazy servant, or a worthless or useless servant because he was not interested in growth or multiplication. The talent was taken from him and given to the servant who performed well.

His fate? He was thrown outside, into darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

POSSESSING THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Matthew 25: 31-46

The King demands that we;

  • Feed the Hungry
  • Give drink to the Thirsty
  • Receive Strangers into our Homes
  • Clothe the Naked
  • Care for the Sick
  • Visit those in Prison.
