PRAYER EMPHASIS FOR WEEK 3
PRAY FOR THE DIFFERENT SECTORS (MOUNTAINS) OF OUR SOCIETY
Looking across the key sectors of our society there is no sector we can be satisfied with the progress that is being made. Therefore one of the tasks before the Church is to pray continuously and strategize for the transformation of the key sectors of our society.
EDUCATION
The issues plaguing our educational sector that require our prayers include:
Fallen standards and archaic methods of teaching; poor commitment and quality of teachers; ineffective quality monitoring and control system; inadequate educational institutions like universities; cultism, vandalism and hooliganism among students, corruption, compromise and greed. Pray about all these issues.
ECONOMY
Pray for the various areas of our economy that need God’s intervention: these include poor infrastructure, the issue of unemployment, the rate of inflation, the lack of power or electricity to drive our economy.
FAMILY
Some of the issues that need to be addressed in our families include the problems of youth, the children, and same-sex marriage. There is also the problem of violence among the youths, etc. Pray for the youth in our nation who are victims of corruption, occultism, examination malpractices, armed robbery, etc.
It was reported that Nigerian women now sell their private parts, including their ovaries, human eggs as commodities at the global bio-technology market. This is a sacrificing of the values of human life and dignity on the platform of greed and the lack of conscience. Pray that God will touch the conscience of our women.
POLITICS AND GOVERNANCE
The politics of our nation is riddled with corruption, occultism and violence. Pray for our political leaders that God will purge them of corruption, occultism and violence. Pray that God will enable good and credible political leaders to win election in this country.
Pray for a peaceful 2015 elections.
POWER AND ENERGY
For a long time epileptic power supply has been part of our life in Nigeria. When the electrical companies were being privatized we were optimistic that things would improve, but that has not been the case. Pray for the newly privatized power companies to improve on their efficiency.
HEALTH
Pray that God will touch the heart of our leaders to improve the health care system in Nigeria.
MEDIA, ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
Pray that God will raise up Christian artists who will project Christ through the media and entertainment industry.
