“He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac; and confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant. Saying, unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance” (Psalm 105:8-11).
“For he remembered his holy promise! and Abraham his servant” (Psalm 105:42).
IT IS YOUR TURN TO BE REMEMBERED! The Lord remembered many people in the Bible, today will be your turn. He will remember you today! What does it mean to be remembered by God? What happens when God remembers us? Does it mean God forgets His own? Not at all. The Psalmist says, “ Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” Again in Isaiah 49:14,15, when Zion lamented about God’s neglect, He answered her thus: “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you.” God does not forget His covenant children. When God remembers us, he simply pays special attention to us. When He remembers us He visits us. He delivers us. He rescues us. He answers our prayers at that special moment when he pays attention to us. He grants us salvation like the robber who was crucified. He lifts us up from our circumstance. He brings us to the limelight when he remembers us.
In the Bible God remembered Noah (Genesis 8:1).
He remembered Abraham (Genesis19:29; Psalm 105:42).
Sarah was remembered by God (Gen.21:1).
When Rachel was remembered her womb was opened by God (Genesis 30:22-24).
Joseph was thrown into a ditch by his brothers. He was later sold to the Midianites. From there he found himself in Potiphar’s house and later in jail. In all these afflictions God remembered him (Genesis. 37:24; 40:12-15; 41:51,52; 45:5-8).
Hannah was remembered by God when she vowed to dedicate her male child to God if given one (1 Samuel 1:19,29).
He remembered Samson when he was in affliction and cried for help (Judges 16:28).
He remembered the children of Israel in captivity (Exodus 2:22-24).
He remembered Jeremiah in the pit (Jeremiha15:15; 38:1-14). Many of us are in differently kinds of spiritual pits and dilemma. May God deliver us.
God made king Ahasuerus to remember Mordecai. The king promoted Mordecai. (Esther 6:1-4).
Jesus remembered the thief on the cross who cried out to him for help (Luke 23:42-43).
The Psalmist says that God remembers his promises. Today, The Lord will remember someone and visit that person. You may be the one!
Certain things happen when God remembers us. First, he visits us. Jeremiah prayed “O Lord, You know; Remember me and visit me.” When God visits us he brings us out from darkness into light (Luke 1:78,79). When God remembered Mordecai he visited him.
Secondly, when God remembers us he answers our prayers. When God remembered Israel he answered her prayers. When God remembered Hannah he answered her petition (See Exodus 2:23; 1 Samuel 1:19).
Thirdly, when God remembers us he confirms his covenant. Exodus 2:24 says, “So God geared their groaning and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.”
Fourthly, when God remembers us he performs his covenant to us, “For He remembered His holy promise, and Abraham His servant. He brought out His people with joy, His chosen ones with gladness” (Psalm 105:42,43; Exodus 2:24-26)
Fifthly, when God remembers us he sends help and deliverance to us. When God remembered Noah and all living creatures, he sent a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided ( Genesis 8:1).
