We may be afraid of COVID-19, but God isn’t afraid, for he knows what to do. We may be worried, but God isn’t worried, for he is in control of all situation. No situation takes God unawares. He knew about COVID-19, long before it started. So, while we panic and jitter, he does not. While we worry, he remains calm. God is using COVID-19 to judge the nations. In Mark 4:35-41, when the disciples were very worried about the storm, Jesus was fast asleep in the midst of the storm. But, he responded once they called on him.
If God knows about COVID-19, long before it started, then he knows what to do. Like John 6:6 says, “But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do” (John 6:6 NKJV).
He has the power to act. According to Ephesians 3:20, God has the absolute power to change things. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21 NKJV)
In Christ, we find a compassionate High Priest who is willing to help and save us from the destructive power of COVID-19. In Matthew 8:2-4, we read about the encounter a leper had with Jesus. Jesus’s willingness to listen to the pleas of this leper and to heal him without any preconditions is so touching. The compassion of Jesus has not ceased to flow even in this time of COVID-19. “And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.””
(Matthew 8:2-4 NKJV).
