HE’S ALIVE CHAPEL JULY FAST DEVOTIONAL 2020 – DAY 16

Godwin Eteng    July 16, 2020

THEME: “TOUGH TIMES NEVER LAST, TOUGH PEOPLE DO”

 Read Psalm 86:8-10

THE GREATNESS OF OUR GOD IS DISCOVERED DURING TOUGH TIMES

Key Verse: “Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord; Nor are there any works like Your works” (Psalms 86:8 NKJV)

Faith in the unparalleled, incomparable, and unsurpassed greatness of God is very important to the believer when tough times arise. We are often faced with trials and fears that seem to overwhelm us. At such times, Satan minimizes the image of God in our hearts, while he maximizes the size of the mountain before us. The truth is that our God is by far greater than all problems, greater than all our fears we face. When we focus on God’s greatness it causes us to realize his ability. He is “Able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ask or think…”

Verse 10 of our text says, “For you are great and do wondrous things, you alone are God.”

The knowledge of the greatness of God is relevant as we walk through tough situations in life.

  • If we knew the greatness of God we would not fear during difficult times.
  • If we knew the greatness of God, we would not fret but remain calm when the storms of life arise.
  • If we knew the greatness of God, we would be calm like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego when there are threats to our lives.
  • If we knew the greatness of God, we would not deny Christ like Peter did.
  • If we knew the greatness of Christ, we would remain calm like Paul when the ship he was in ran into a storm.
  • If we knew the greatness of God we would pray more confidently.
  • If we knew the greatness of God, we would be bold like David was before Goliath (1Samuel 17).
  • If we knew the greatness of God, we would boldly command mountains to move.

PRAYER: Father, I am so sorry that I have made you look so small in my eyes and before the world. I feel so sorry, forgive me, Lord. Amen
