Read Deuteronomy 7:7-11
TOUGH TIMES REVEAL THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD
Key Verse: “No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you” (Joshua 1:5 NLT).
We discover the faithfulness of God during tough times. What is the faithfulness of God? It is the unchanging character of God, which he extends to those who love him at all times. Faithfulness is determined by the ability to keep to one’s word and promises. God’s faithfulness is shown in the way he honours his promises (Numbers 23:23; 1 Kings 8:24; 56, 61; Joshua 1:5).
God’s faithfulness is shown in the way he honours his covenant (Deuteronomy 7:9; Exodus2:23-25; Psalm 89:34).
The faithful acts of God are testimonies of his faithfulness. God’s faithfulness is shown in the way he defends and protects those who trust in him (2 Thessalonians 3:3; Jeremiah 39:11-18).
God delivered the children of Israel from Egypt as promised after 430 years and took them through the wilderness into the Promised Land. When Daniel was thrown into a lion’s den, God faithfully stood by him and defended him. (Dan.6:18-23). He faithfully kept the three Hebrew boys in the furnace of fire (Dan.2:16-25).
God protected and delivered Paul in the numerous threats to his life (2 Tim. 4:16-18; 1:12). God protected Paul when they ran into a storm heading to Rome (Acts 27). God faithfully delivered Paul and Silas from prison (Acts 16).
God delivered Sarah from the hand of Abimelech (Genesis 20:1-18).
God is faithful because of his unconditional love (Hosea 2:14-24).
God is faithful because of his compassion (Lamentations.3:22-24)
God is faithful because he is trustworthy and dependable (Deuteronomy 2:7).
May you discover the faithfulness of God in this season of trials.
PRAYER: Oh God, your faithfulness is beyond question. Help me to trust in you during tough times.
